Customer Engineer

We are looking for a friendly, capable, communicative person to support our customers in learning Grist and in building their solutions in it.

Who We Are

We are a software startup building Grist, a new kind of data organization software. Grist combines the best ideas of spreadsheets and databases, to let individuals and small businesses organize their data better, and make them more productive.

You’ll be joining the unique combination of a small team in early stages of growth, and a well-developed ambitious product with great potential.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a combination of strong communication skills, and some technical prowess. You will be responsible for responding to customer inquiries, understanding their needs, sharing expertise in using Grist, and using it to help customers achieve their objectives. You will have an opportunity to create educational materials, and to contribute to the overall direction and success of the product.

  • Become an expert in Grist, including learning data organization principles and some Python coding.
  • Interact with customers, including over email, video calls, and on the community forum.
  • Identify opportunities for product improvement, particularly ease of use.
  • Create materials such as templates, tutorials, and videos.
  • Serve as an advocate for our customers, in understanding and relaying their needs.
The position is remote, in a distributed team.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Interested in technology and innovation.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, including some coding.
  • Knowledge of Excel or Google Sheets is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Python is a plus.
  • Coursework on software engineering or databases is a plus.
