Founding Account Executive

We are looking for a driven, capable, communicative person to help us build a repeatable sales process that scales. You will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing our sales funnel from lead generation to deal closing.

This position is remote, in a distributed team.

We’re looking for a Founding Account Executive who will test outbound sales strategies, qualify inbound sales opportunities, and help refine our sales process.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a combination of strong communication skills and experience in B2B software sales. As the first 100% sales hire, you will be responsible for qualifying inbound leads generated through collaboration with the marketing department, implementing outbound sales strategies, and thinking creatively around how to refine and reach Grist’s ideal customers.

Formalizing sales is a new endeavor for Grist. You will be working directly with the CEO to test and iterate on sales methods. The goal is two-fold: increase sales, and create a replicable sales process that can be expanded upon with new hires in a growing sales team. As the first sales-only hire, you will have an opportunity to grow into the lead sales expert at Grist.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Build multiple sales narratives, including initial pitch, anecdotes, and rebuttals.
  • Generate and qualify leads, book meetings between qualified leads and the CEO, and shadow those meetings to learn how to sell Grist, and then take over the close process.
  • Plan and execute outbound sales experiments including over email, LinkedIn, phone calls, and events.
  • Create compelling content such as a sales deck or in-product demo.
  • Qualify inbound sales leads (generated by marketing) to help the company further refine its ideal customer profile and increase sales.
  • Interact with customers and initiate discovery conversations to learn more about enterprise customer needs, including over email, video calls, on the community forum, and Discord.
  • Become an expert in Grist to better understand the myriad of use cases it addresses, and identify product improvements that can help close deals with Grist’s ideal customer.

Requirements

  • 5 to 7 years experience.
  • Experience selling B2B software, ideally with a collaborative data tool to enterprises.
  • Strong communication and content skills.
  • Interested in technology and innovation with a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Experience as a quota-carrying sales person or sales lead.
  • Experience selling to technical users (developers, IT admin) is a plus.
  • Coursework on software engineering or databases is a plus.

Compensation

  • Salary in the range $100k – $120k.
